Helen Yoest and I have been good friends for a long time now, and we like to share in each other’s successes. So with this, I present to you Helen’s latest book Plants With Benefits: An Uninhibited Guide to the Aphrodisiac Herbs, Fruits, Flowers, & Veggies in Your Garden (2014, St. Lynn’s Press). I had two honors in contributing to Helen’s book. The first was helping shoot and style many of the photos. The second was writing another blurb for her new book; I knew my way around the concept when I wrote a blurb for the first book Gardening With Confidence –50 Ways to add style for personal creativity (2012 GWC Press).

Helen Yoest didn’t set out, as she said recently, to write a horticultural Kama Sutra. It was sort of an accident. Ms. Yoest, a garden writer, was researching an article on avocados when she learned that the fruit was considered an aphrodisiac. What makes it so, she wondered: The nutrients? The shape? Bingo.
