Star Moss (Aulacomnium) grows in upright clusters with a spongy texture and star-shaped tips, and brightens visibly within minutes of misting. Handling Instructions

Shipping: This moss is shipped fresh. There is no need to soak or clean it — mist it and plant it directly into your terrarium or vivarium. If it arrives dry, with curled leaves and duller color, that is a normal dormant state, not damage; color and texture return within minutes of misting.
Storage: If you cannot plant it immediately, open the package for airflow and keep it cool, dry and out of direct light. Do not leave it smothered or sealed while damp — moss that cannot dry out can develop mould or bacterial growth. Moss is not harmed by drying, and dry storage keeps it shelf-stable.
Planting: Press it gently onto the substrate so it makes firm, continuous contact with no air pockets beneath, green growth up and brown undergrowth down. Mosses do not root into substrate like vascular plants, so that contact is what supports moisture retention and rhizoid attachment. It can be cut or torn to shape around hardscape, and propagated by fragmentation.
Watering: Mist rather than soak, using distilled, filtered or rain water for best health. Moss has no protective skin like other plants, so keep it away from aerosols, cleaners, oils and other chemicals.
